St Margaret’s is a Church of England church, and is the Parish Church of West Leigh Schools. We enjoy strong relationships with both Infants and Junior Schools which we hope is to the advantage of both the schools and the church. There are warm relationships between churches in Leigh, and we will gladly provide details of churches of other denominations.

Children’s Activities

We have a full range of activities for children, and we would stress that children of any age are catered for at every service here. There is a crèche facility at the back of the church.

Living Stones is the title we give to our Sunday School – it is not like a school so we prefer a different title. It runs on Sundays from 9.50am; the children begin in the hall and join the service later. Parents are welcome to stay with their children if they prefer. Living Stones is for children between 3 and 13.

Edward Bear Club is for the under 5’s. It provides a variety of activities for children with their parents/grandparents/childminders. It runs on Wednesdays in term time, from 9.30am- 11.30am. There is a toddlers’ service at about 10.30am.

Torches is an after school group which meets every Wednesday in term time, from 3.45pm – 5pm. It is for children aged 6 – 8, and includes games, songs and Christian teaching. Numbers are limited by the number of adult helpers, so please phone first to make sure there is a place.

Youth Club meets on Thursdays in term time, and is for young people in school years 7-9. It meets from 7.30pm – 9pm in the hall.

Uniformed Organisations We have the full range of Scout and Guide groups; please phone for details.

All church organisations run according to the Child Protection Policy as advised by the Diocese of Chelmsford, with a few local additions.

Services

Worship and prayer is the main reason for the church. The church is usually open at the side door.

Sunday services our main service is at 10am, and we hope it provides a warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere with a sense of worship and devotion.

There are also services on a Sunday at 8am, 5.30pm and 6.30pm.

Morning and Evening Prayer are said daily, and there is a daily Mass at varying times.

We welcome all people, and will gladly introduce and explain the Christian faith and Christian worship to those with little or no previous knowledge.
