CYCLING / WALKING
The Traditional Touring Club arranges events such as Cycle rides - in Britain and on
the continent, Walking trips - in
Britain, the continent....... even the far East., Weekend trips - walking, cycling,
caving, skiing and Social events.
New members are invited to join them on a Sunday and take the opportunity to get fit.
Rides are on quiet country roads and standard membership costs £15 per year.
The club holds monthly meetings at The Ship in Old Leigh on the third Wednesday of every
month, starting at 8pm.

PHOTOGRAPHY
LEIGH CAMERA CLUB
Leigh Camera Club is one of the largest photographic societies in Essex with nearly 100
members and meets on Thursday evenings at Leigh Community Centre in Elm Road,
Leigh-on-Sea, during the winter season from the beginning of September to the end of
April.
The club have a weekly programme which includes talks and practical demonstrations by
well-known national photographers and experts in the photographic field. These range from
portraiture and landscape to dark room demonstrations and the use of the latest digital
techniques.
Absolute beginners in photography are catered for at a series of workshops run by club
officers, while a group interested in studio photography meet monthly. A 1,000 book
library on photographic topics is available to members, which also includes videos and an
especially made video showing a year in the life of Leigh Camera Club.
Monthly competitions judged by independent adjudicators are held for beginners,
intermediate and advanced entrants in colour and monochrome prints and transparencies and
an annual exhibition is
held at the end of April, which attracts around 250 prints and 200 slides.
Some of Essex's best known photographers including David Davenport, Ted Simkins, Peter
Millard, Tony Estcourt, Mike Woodhouse and Jeffrey Goodman are members but experienced and
raw beginners among photographers are equally welcome in a friendly club.
