The Royal Hotel, one of Southend-on-Sea's most famous historical buildings, was sympathetically restored to reflect its former Georgian elegance and opened as an exclusive restaurant and bar during Spring 2016.

The ground floor brasserie lounge and bar is open from morning through to late evening. During the day the focus is on table service offering a wide range of coffees, teas, and soft drinks in addition to a full range of alcoholic beverages together with snacks and light meals. In the evening the atmosphere of the ground floor shifts to one of cocktail bar and lounge, again with table service. An imaginative range of cocktails is on offer, including ‘sharers’ for groups along with a wide variety of wines, spirits and liqueurs plus craft beers by the bottle. An array of sharing food platters and bar snacks is available throughout the evening.

The ground floor terrace enables patrons to enjoy the view and some sunshine whilst relaxing over a meal, or perhaps just a drink.

The first floor high-ceilinged ballroom is now an elegant 80-seater restaurant providing an innovative range of English and international dishes using fresh, seasonal local products prepared to the highest standards by passionate, quality-driven chefs. With period décor, including extensive cornice work, the restaurant provides ‘fine casual’ dining with superb views across the Thames - including the world famous pier. It operates throughout the day serving lunch, afternoon tea and dinner with roasts on Sunday from midday to late afternoon.
