A13 At Sadlers Farm to close completely for 3 weeks

Cadent are upgrading the gas pipes along the A13 - London Road, Benfleet, Essex from 25th July until 30th August 2026.

Cadent have developed a project to fully replace nearly 800 metres of metal pipes along the A13, London Road from Sadlers Hall Farm roundabout to the junction with Rushbottom Lane and High Road.

The existing pipes were laid over 80-100 years ago and over the years there have been multiple repairs, resulting in extensive traffic management. This project will eliminate the need for recurrent repairs and also enhance the reliability of our gas network to ensure customers are safe and warm long into the future.

There will be a full road closure from 85 London Road to the junction of Rushbottom Lane, then from the junction of Rushbottom Lane to 127 London Road from 27th July until 17th August.

Then there will be a lane closure on High Road from junction of London Road to outside 665 High Road from 25th July until 15th August. Rushbottom Lane is to remain open throughout.

They will also be upgrading the gas pipes along Croft Road and there will be a full road closure at the end of phase 4 with access only for residents until 30th August.

Working hours:

Engineering teams will be working extended hours.

Example of the hours and work to be completed:

Engineering teams: Monday to Friday: 07:00 – 19:00

Reinstatement teams: Saturday: 08:00-16:00 and Sunday: 09:00-13:00 to reinstate the road surfaces.

The following bus routes with be diverted during the closure.

21 - The 21 will divert in both directions via Rushbottom Road, Church Road and Kents Hill Road North.

The following bus stops will not be served in both directions:

Tarpots Corner (EASTBOUND) - Southwold Crescent - Waverley Road - Kents Hill Road North (WESTBOUND)

21S- The 21S will operate to normal line of route but will likely be delayed due to heavy traffic in and around the area.

22 - The 22 will divert in both directions via Canvey Way, Canvey Road and Ferry Road.

The following bus stops will not be served in both directions:

28 - The 28 will divert in both directions via Canvey Way, Canvey Road, Ferry Road, Essex Way and Benfleet Road.

The following bus stops will not be served in both directions:

Bartley Road, Tarpots Corner, Southwold Crescent, Waverley Road, Kents Hill Road, Glen Road, Kenneth Road, USP College, Warren Chase, Shipwrights Drive North, Cranbrook Avenue, Victoria House Corner
