Application submitted to replace two £1million homes with retirement flats

Southend Council has received an application to tear down two £1million homes in Thorpe Bay and convert them into 33 retirement homes. 

The application, submitted by Churchill Retirement, would consist of one and two bedroom apartments with parking, a 24/7 emergency call system and 'Lodge Manager'.

The proposal for 193 and 195 Thorpe Hall Avenue has already been met with concern by residents. 

Ron Woodley, Independent councillor for Thorpe ward has called for the plans to be heard by the development control committee.
