Book your garden waste collection online

Disposing of garden waste is now easier than ever thanks to the council and Veolia updated their online portal.

With spring imminent, the council and its waste contractor, Veolia, have decided to revamp the way residents order brown garden waste bins and how they are collected. The new online portal allows residents to sign up with just a few details and in a few clicks.

The cost of the service equates to just £1 a week and will enable consumers to have their garden waste collected by Veolia on their designated bin collection day for a one-off payment on a 12 month subscription. The service is available via the new portal and through MySouthend accounts.

Cllr Mark Flewitt, cabinet member for public protection, said: “Many residents are preparing their gardens for the summer periods and with these works comes large quantities of garden waste, varying from grass cuttings to hedge trimmings, so there is a clear need for this service. This also links with our green recycling ambition for the borough in our 2050 theme of Pride and Joy – taking pride in our borough.

“The improved online portal makes it quick and simple for residents to register and make a payment. We are aware not all residents like to pay this way, and so we have a dedicated customer service team on hand who can assist residents throughout the process.”

Keith McGurk, Regional Director for Veolia, said: “Let us continue making your gardening life easier by subscribing for your garden waste collection via our online portal this year. Picked up from your doorstep, it takes the hassle out of putting heavy wet garden waste in your boot and making trips to one of our Household Waste Recycling Centres at Leigh Marshes or Stock Road to dispose of it. ”
