Duke & Duchess of Cambridge set to visit Basildon Sporting Village

The red carpet is set to be rolled out TODAY as the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge visit Basildon Sporting Village.

The Royal couple are due to meet with a number of representatives from South Essex Gymnastics Cub and Sport for Confidence along with apprentices from Coach Core Essex. 

Coach Core was established in 2012 by The Royal Foundation with the aim to harness the power of sport, and its abiity to change lives and enpower young people who are not in education or employment. The utimate goal is to create the next generation of sports coaches in these young people, who will then go on to inspire their communities for many more generations to come. 

Sport for confidence was established in 2015 and set up to provide sporting opportunities to individuals who face barriers in participation. 

In today's Royal visit, the Duke and Duchess wil not only meet a number of representatives and apprentices from these schemes, but join in with coaching sessions including indoor tennis and athletics along with taking part in a game of Boccia, a precision ball sport pplayed by people in a wheelchair, having been originaly created for those with cerebal palsy. The will also watch Olympic standard gymnasts train as well as a pre-school session run by Coach Core apprentices and graduates.
