Esplanade Flats Fall Through after Developer Pulls Out

June 18, 2017 by Leigh-on-Sea.com

The plans to convert the Esplanade pub into flats have been scrapped after a four year battle between developers and council planners.

The developers, Swedish firm Redab Properties, bought the seafront pub in 2013 and have been in discussions to demolish the pub and replace it with 23 seafront apartments with work due to start in Autumn, in order to minimise seafront disruption.

Redab are now in discussion with other developers in order to sell the site, with the director stating that he can no longer do battle with council planners.
