Fire at Southend pub thought to be deliberate

November 26, 2018 by Leigh-on-sea.com

Derelict Southend Pub The Esplanade is thought to have been the target of an arson attack as fire crews battled a blaze at the site over the weekend.

Six crews including those from Southend, Leigh, Rochford and Shoebury, fought the flames for over two hours as the blaze swept through the premises.

Since closing some months ago, the pub has been the target of a number of fires.

Planning application was aproved back in August by Southend Council which will see the site, along with it's neighbouring premises Marriott's Fish & Chip Shop demolished to make way for a block of flats and two new restaurants.
