Saturday 16th August - Free Family Fun Day Idea!

August 13, 2014 by Joanna Harrison

Short and sweet… here it is Mums, Dads, Guardians…

So whilst one of you packs up the picnic, car and sorts the kids for the day, the other may as well grab a free voucher for Shambhala Studios and take a free Pilates or Yoga class to start the day!

Now ready, steady,go…

Make your initial stop Chalkwell Park; with a variety of different playgrounds and sport courts, there really is fun for everyone! Ball, bat and hoops games will keep you entertained for hours on end and if your little one/s is lucky enough to have a scooter, then a specific ramp area has been built of anything on wheels… minus the car of course!

With lunchtime fast approach and mum / dad / guardian in much need of a rest (and kids needing to refuel), tuck into your pre packed picnic and take in the scenery of the beautiful grounds of Chalkwell Park!

That said, with temperatures predicted at a warm 22 degrees on Saturday, you may want to pack your picnic up and move just 2 minutes down the road to Chalkwell Beach which offers stunning estuary views!

Now for some, an afternoon of building sand castles, crabbing and paddling may be appealing, but for those sand fearers (I have a few friends who cant stand the stuff), why not head down to Southend Airport with your little one/s and let them experience, the simple but well reviewed, watching the planes land and take off!

And finally…. Just as you thought the day was coming to an end… the best bit!!! Southend Carnival start there much awaited Procession from 7:45 at Southchurch Park! Attracting over 20,000 people and with 80 floats and acts, it is well worth sticking around for!
