GP Surgery placed in special measures

A GP Surgery based in Westcliff has been placed in 'special measures' and faces closure if it does not improve.

The Dr George and Partner Surgery based in North Road Primary Care Centre has been branded "inadequate" by health Watchdog, the Care Quality Commission.

The surgey which cares for 5052 paitents, was found to be issusing routine prescriptions without appropriate reviews, fridge temperatures holding vaccines were not properly monitored and long term condition paitents, along with the elderly and those with mental health issues were not seen to a carried out in line with guidance procedures.

However, it was reported that overall, all the paitents were treated with dignity and respect and staff were always 'helpful, polite and courteous'.

The surgery is currently working with the NHS Southend Clinical Commissioning Group to improve standards immediately.
