LAD scheme launched to help homeowners in Southend save money on energy
Homeowners in Southend may be able to take advantage of funding to make homes warmer and energy bills cheaper this winter.
In October 2020, Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, along with nine other local authorities, were awarded £3,000,000 funding through the Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery (LAD) project. The consortium is set out to deliver 450 significant low carbon measures to 300 eligible households.
The scheme aims to help low-income homes keep warm by improving the energy efficiency rating and reducing energy bills. Residents across the borough who meet the eligibility criteria below are encouraged to apply, as part of the Warmer Homes Local Authority Delivery (LAD) programme.
Household income must be less than £30,000 and the energy efficiency rating of the house must be E, F or G. Residents can find out the energy efficiency rating of their homes by looking on the EPC Register, entering their postcode and selecting their house from the list. The Warmer Homes team undertake a free energy assessment of your home and help with accessing grant funding for any energy efficiency improvements.
A number of energy efficiency measures are available such as:
- Solid wall and other insulation options
- Low carbon heating
- Door improvements
- Smart heating controls
Cllr Carole Mulroney, cabinet member for environment and planning, said: “The news that this funding has been made available is fantastic. A warm home is so important, and the LAD Warmer Homes funding is a hugely positive step towards making sure homes in Southend are warm, comfortable and energy efficient.
“If you meet the criteria and think you would qualify, please get in contact and book a free assessment.”
Residents who match the eligibility criteria can get in touch with the Warmer Homes team by phoning 0800 038 5747 for free, or by visiting www.warmerhomes.org.ukADD A COMMENT
