Local Dad Jailed After Failing to Send Children to School

Edward Williams of Southend has been jailed having failed to send his three daughters to school for a whole academic year.

Williams has received continued support from the local authority, other agencies and the school in a bid to get his daughter's to attend and receive the education they have now vitally missed out on, but after being previously taken to court and receiving three convictions, he has been finally jailed. Williams received an 8 week jail term for each offence, but the sentences will run at the same time. 

The girls are enrolled at Cecil Jones Academy, Eastern Avenue. Due to the decision of the court, the school are unable to comment.
