A man who attacked a security guard at Talk Nightclub in Southend has avoided prison.

Ricky Morris, 20 of Rayleigh Road, Stanford-le-Hope was handed a nine-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months after he left the victim with a broken nose and broken eye sockets.

The victim, along with other staff, were called to an incident inside the club at around 3am which involved Morris. He was ejected from the premises and conversed with the victim over his girlfriends coat. He was told to text his partner for her to come outside and meet him. Assuming the situation was resolved, the victim turned his back only to receieve a punch to the left hand side of his face.

CCTV footage was shown to the judge, confirming the assault.

Morris admitted one count of causing grievous bodily harm in March of this year when he appeared for a plea hearing.

Morris must also complete 200 hours of unpaid work, 40 days of rehabilitation, has a 3 month curfew banning him from leaving his home between the hours of 8pm and 6am and was ordered to pay the victim £1,000 compensation.
