Man jailed for 21 months for violent assault on woman

Vaqas Azam, 24, of Lornes Close, Southend has been jailed for 21 months after pleading guilty to actual bodily harm, assault by beating, harassment and driving offences at Basildon Crown Court. 

Azam was arrested on Friday February 24, after it was reported he had been both physically and verbally abusive towards a woman between November 2017 and February 2018. 

The court heard how Azam had physically assualted his 24 year old victim as well as harassing both her and her parents. 

He was found guilty of two counts of ABH along with three months for each count of assault. Azam was also disqualified from driving for 17 months and had his driving licence endorsed.
