Matilda - An Inspiration

August 9, 2014 by Joanna Harrison

It doesn't take much….. just some pushy parents and a little pair of legs!

It was some months ago now that Havens Hospices announced their charity walk ‘Havens to Heavens Walk 2014’. With a variety of different routes and mileages on offer, it seemed, and was just perfect!

Although like everyone, our lives are a juggling act of work, family time, seeing friends and running a home, being honored to take part in a charity event a few time’s a year is humbling and can lead to some much needed family or friend bonding time.

My little girl Matilda is just approaching two and a half years old and I believe its important for her to grow up learning to be kind, caring and offer her time for those less fortunate than her when she can.

My personal dedication to wanting to help Havens Hospices is my darling step-mum ; she sadly fell ill a few years back with bowel cancer and it was the the lovely, wonderful Havens Hospice, that offered her comfort and dignity in her last few weeks with us.

We were all made by a mum and dad, some of us are mum’s and dad’s and with that, some of have children.

It may sound a little depressing and negative to say, but the truth of it is, any one of us could need Havens Hospices/Little Havens help one day.

So, make Matilda your inspiration and spare a little time… by toddling 2 miles she raised £243.75!!!!! If Matilda can do it, so can you!

Visit www.havenshospices.org.uk and see ‘upcoming events, for their latest listing!!!
