New Defibrillator for Leigh-on-sea Residents

May 26, 2023

Leigh Town Council are delighted to announce that working in partnership with Leigh Lions and the Manchester Drive Allotment Society, a new defibrillator has been installed.

Town Clerk, Helen Symmons said ‘the committee of the Manchester Drive Allotment Society felt with the number of plot holders on the site and the area of Prittlebrook being so popular for walkers, runners and cyclists, the entrance to the allotments would be an ideal spot for a defibrillator. Our great friends at Leigh Lions were keen to support this and made a generous donation to cover the cost.’

There were some challenges in sourcing a cabinet that didn’t require power but with the help of the Hadleigh, Leigh and Southend CFR Groups’ co-ordinator an appropriate company that offered insulated cabinets was recommended.

The defibrillator is now the fourth one in the Leigh area that the Town Council monitor and is registered with the Circuit. In an emergency, ring 999 and they will direct you to the nearest cabinet and advise of the code to unlock.
