New fraud probe launched

A new fraud investigation has been launched after a former funeral director left customers up to £50,000 out of pocket.

Richard Sage, who owned Mayer Funeral Homes with offices in Westcliff, Shoebury and Hadleigh, was jailed back in October 2014 for four and a half years after tricking jobseekers into paying a £400 admin fee for roles that didnt exist.

The new investigation is due to Sage having failed to pay monies into a genuine, independent fund based in Norwich called the Funeral Planning Trust.

Enquiries are currently ongoing.
