May 27, 2021

Music on Sea has launched an engagement project for students to share their ideas for the future of music, as well as sharing stories of their experiences of music in Southend.

The new engagement page is now live on Your Say Southend and gives participants the chance to submit ideas, stories, and vote on ideas and potential music projects in the Borough. Users can engage with one another, liking and commenting on each other’s suggestions and experiences.

Music on Sea is funded by Arts Council England to deliver the National Music Plan to schools and young people for students aged five to 18 in Southend. However, anyone who loves music in the Borough is welcome.

Cllr Laurie Burton, cabinet member for children and learning, said: “It is wonderful to see a new addition to the service in the way of an online engagement page, to enable music lovers to connect and give the art and culture of music a wider community in Southend.

“Music on Sea plays a vital role in providing the knowledge and equipment to inspire students to take up the art of music. I would like to encourage students to participate and voice their opinions on what opportunities they would like to see offered in Southend, allowing them make the most of the Music on Sea project.”
