Not so grumpy after all....

December 19, 2016 by Rob Kahl

This is my last blog before Christmas and you will be delighted to know that I have some time off work and will be spending an extended break at home enjoying the festivities.

I would like to take the opportunity to wish everybody a very Happy Christmas and hope that you are all able to eat, drink and be merry. I am in the full throws of preparations for Christmas at the moment and with a week to go, I still have to buy all of my presents, wrap them, sort the shopping out and basically pull my finger out and get going (typical man!).

In the office it is a normal December, the phones are pretty quiet, we have had chocolate, biscuits, cakes and mince pies most days and at any one time there is at least one of us in the office with a hangover (today is my turn!). But the best thing so far was Friday when I went to see my daughter in her nursery school Nativity play. She was an angel, which was a bit of a stretch for her but of course she was fabulous and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. It has really got me in to the Christmas spirit and I am now really looking forward to the big day.

For estate agents this is really the only time of the year that we know the property market is going to slow down so I can take some time off guilt free. Knowing that I am not going to miss much and really enjoy it.

I will be at home this year and in charge of the cooking. I think I have worked out there will be 11 different items on my Christmas dinner plate including Turkey, pigs in blankets and of course the brussell sprouts. What other time of year would you pile your plate so high that you can barely lift it and then go back for seconds and thirds before eating rich Christmas pudding, Brandy butter and mince pies all before eating rounds of cold Turkey sandwiches and Trifle in the evening! Just thinking about it makes me feel a bit queasy, but I know I will be doing it on the day and then attempting to fall asleep in front of the T.V.; that is if my daughter lets me and I am not trying to put together some pink plastic toy that Father Christmas has left her.

So again, I hope that everyone enjoy's the festivities and the time with your friends and families. Don't forget, if you have all been good then I am sure that Father Christmas will bring you everything that you have wished for....im not sure I fall into this category!

Next week will be the last blog of the year and I will try and make sense of what has gone on in the local housing market in 2016 and what we can expect and hope for in the New Year.

I know I can be a grumpy scrooge sometimes, but for the first year ever, I am actually enjoying the Christmas build up... and as you can see, I don't intend on hiding it!
