With Pancake day just around the corner, we have been hunting for the best places in Ever wondered why pancakes are eaten on Shrove Tuesday? It dates back to when many societies would eat pancakes, or anything made of butter, sugar and fat that would then be given up for Lent, 7 weeks before easter. In other societies it may be called Mardi Gras, a carnival day for “fat-eating” before the period of Lent. Basically, it’s an excuse to eat a lot before you go into the Lenten season, whether or not you would be participating in that or not!
