Southchurch Hall Heritage Open Day

Southchurch Hall is opening its doors for a free day of discovery during Heritage Open Days 2018! On Sunday 9 September discover the treasures of this medieval manor house and gain behind the scenes access as Southend Museums Conservator shares her work caring for this historic property.

Heritage Open Days is England’s largest and most popular grassroots cultural event. It celebrates what makes local areas special, and enables people to discover more about the history and culture of their local community.

At Southchurch Hall join the Conservator throughout the day in conservation demonstrations as she shares how she looks after the Hall. You can get hands on with history in drop-in conservation cleaning sessions and learn top tips for caring for your own antiques. You can also explore the Hall’s highlights through regular object in focus sessions. 

Throughout the day our Conservator and Curator will be on hand to share the work they do for the Museums Service.
