The Grand Latest - February 2018

February 21, 2018 by Leigh-on-sea.com

At last, work seem's to be moving forward for Leigh's most iconic building, The Grand.

Mick Norcross purchased the property some year's ago and has undergone a series of set backs in his commitment to restore the much loved building with Japanese Knotweed and continued submission of plans being rejected by the council.

However, all is now looking extremely positive and we were fortunate enough to speak with Mr Norcross himself for an update;

"We have established our site set up and are currently carrying out our preliminary works including survey's with our engineers and architects in order to commence the main works.

In the meantime, we have also started the external works to strengthen the structure of the main building in order to take the new extensions.

On the down side, others are still trying their hardest to stop the project after an anonymous application was lodged to have the building listed. This has involved us filing a Historic England report to the Secretary of State for listing.
of which I am awaiting a decision on.

In the interim, work's will continue as planned"

With thanks to Mick Norcross.
