Why not give a charity challenge for Christmas?
An Essex Hospice charity are encouraging people to give daredevil friends and family members places on two exciting challenges as presents this festive season.
Thrill seekers can take to the skies for a charity skydive or wing walk next year to raise funds for Havens Hospices, which includes Fair Havens, Little Havens and The J’s, to help their specialist Care Team support patients and their whole family throughout illness, death and bereavement, within the home, in the community and at their two hospices.
Emma Hamilton, Challenges Fundraiser for Havens Hospices said, “We love the idea of gifting a wing walk or skydive to your nearest and dearest for Christmas – it certainly is a very unique stocking filler! We can only exist because of the kindness of our supporters who take part in experiences and challenges like these.
“Every daredevil who takes to the skies will be helping us continue to fulfil our promise of ‘Making every day count’ for every baby, child, young person, adult and their families.”
Michelle Foyle is a Nursing Assistant for the charity’s Hospice at Home took part in the wing walk earlier this year and is now encouraging others to sign up.
“I signed up for the wing walk thinking it was something totally different if I’m honest,” she explained. “I thought it was a charity walk with wings on! I hate flying and heights, so it was a massive challenge for me. It was insane! An experience I'm glad I’ve done.”
Michelle continued, “I work for the charity and know we rely on donations, so doing something like this is not just an amazing experience - people like to donate just to see you up in the air and if you’ll be anything like me you’ll be screaming away at the same time!”
