World War Two

World War Two

The Leigh Society is keen to hear from anyone who has memories/pictures of Leigh during the War or was evacuated and is willing to share their memories. This year is the 70th anniversary of the ending of the War, so if anyone has a story about how they heard the War was over or where they were, we would love to hear from them, particularly relating to Leigh.

VE Day parties were held everywhere and we would love to see any photos of roads in Leigh holding street parties. We would like to record all of this for the archives as a social history of the time by the people that made it.

We would also like to display as much information as we can at our open day on 18 July at Leigh Community Centre so photographic memories are very important too.
