Your chance to join charity Ascot event
On Friday 21st June, Little Havens Hospice will host an Ascot with a Twist event at Orsett Hall Hotel in Thurrock.
Every year Little Havens Hospice hosts the exclusive event, traditionally a Ladies Day event – raising vital funds for the hospice. However, last year the charity that cares for children from across Essex with life-limiting illnesses added a second date that is open to all.
The event is proving popular, but there are still tables available for the event which will see guests greeted with a Pimms drinks reception, before enjoying a three-course lunch which includes half a bottle of wine per person. Throughout the day there is live entertainment and fundraising games to keep everyone happy whilst they wait for the racing and ‘fun-betting’ to begin.
High Tea is then served as races are streamed live from Royal Ascot; guests can have a little flutter for exclusive prizes that are kindly donated to the charity to help raise money. The money raised will be used to help Little Havens to continue ‘Making every day count’ for teenagers, children, and babies with life-limiting illnesses like Sienna.
When Sienna was born in June 2017 she was starved of oxygen during delivery and was born with no heartbeat and wasn’t breathing. She required 28 minutes of resuscitation. At seven days old an MRI scan revealed Sienna had severe brain damage and two days later her parents, Sarah and James, switched off her life support machine. At 11 days old they took Sienna to Little Havens for end of life care.
However, day by day, Sienna’s condition improved and at four weeks old Sarah and James were able to take Sienna home. Sienna has cerebral palsy and is registered blind. She requires 24/7 care. The family continue to receive support from Little Havens.
Sarah, Sienna’s mum said “Words can’t explain how grateful we are for Little Havens. We went there for end of life care when Sienna was 11 days old. Now she’s over a year old and we’re taking each day as it comes. We don’t know what the future holds, but we know Little Havens will be there for us, and that is a huge comfort.”
Cathryn Wood, Events Fundraiser at Havens Hospices, said “Every year we’re overwhelmed by how popular this event is and this year is no different as we saw Thursday sell out in record time. If you would like to join us on the Friday and help raise vital funds for families like Sienna’s who use Little Havens Hospice please get in touch.”
Tickets are £80 per person, and tables of up to 12 guests are available for Friday 21st June 2019. The ticket price includes two drinks on arrival, three-course lunch, half a bottle of wine per person, high tea, and evening entertainment.
For more information or to book please contact Cathryn Wood on 01702 220337 or cjwood@havenshospices.org.uk by Friday 22nd March
