Basildon teacher from Leigh charged with series of child sexual offences

A Basildon teacher from Leigh-on-sea has been charged with a number of child sexual offences which allegedly took place between 2017 and 2018. 

Timothy Eastwell, 57, of Woodcote Road was originally arrested at a Basildon Primary School back in June and was then released on bail until August 18. Upon answering bail on this date, Eastwell was then re-arrested for various offences but again re-bailed on three further dates. 

On October 29, Eastwell was then charged with a total of eight coungts of sexual offences whcih included one count of causing or inciting a boy under 13 to engage in sexual activity with no penetration, two counts of assaulting a boy under the age of 13 by touching, four counts of assaulting a girl under the age of 13 by touching and one count of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child under the age of 13. 

Eastwell has been released on bail and will appear at Basildon Magistrates' Counrt on December 6.
