Boom Battle Bar signed! new tenant for The Victoria Centre

Boom Battle Bar have announced that they are to open in The Victoria Centre.

They will take over the prominent former Tangs unit, covering approximately 10,500 square foot across both ground and first floor.

Contracts have been exchanged and the new tenant will now start their fit out works, including creating a new entrance to the venue It is hoped Boom Battle Bar will open in time for the summer.

Boom Battle Bar play host to a variety of games including Crazier Golf, Shuffleboard, Digital Darts, Beer Pong and much more. They also serve delicious street food, exquisite cocktails and unique craft beers.

Richard Harpham, chief executive officer at Boom Battle Bar, says: “We’re excited to be bringing the Boom experience to the iconic Southend on Sea with our newest Boom Battle Bar venue. After the success of our venues in Chelmsford and Lakeside, we can’t wait to welcome crowds of locals and tourists alike to play our most sort after games from Axe Throwing to Prosecco & Beer Pong and sing in our Boom Box private Karaoke Booths, With cocktails, street food, live sport on large screens and DJ’s spinning – we just cannot wait to get the doors open.”

William Ashdown, asset manager at Rivington Hark, who manage The Victoria Centre on behalf of Southend-on-Sea City Council said: “The letting to Boom Battle Bar is an important step in our continuing journey to revitalise the centre and, in particular, our aim of bringing in more leisure activities into the scheme.

“It has been great to deal with the Boom Battle Bar team who have shown their passion about bringing their business into Southend and who share our view on the positive impact we envisage this letting will have on the City. We’re confident that Boom Battle Bar will be the new go-to place for fun seekers in Southend and we can’t wait to see them open later this year.”

Cllr Paul Collins, cabinet member for capital investment and asset management, says: “This is fantastic news and a further demonstration of how the council showing confidence in the city centre and purchasing The Victoria as a key investment is bringing about significant change and investment to our new City.

“Boom is a great addition as we continue to see new and differing uses coming into the city centre as part of our ongoing strategy and investment plan.

“The centre is going from strength to strength and not only is the centre generating income for the council, we are also now seeing significant external investment, increased footfall and new jobs being created which is vital as we seek to create a strong and prosperous City.”

Since the council bought the centre a number of new and varied new units have opened up, including SpyMissions, IndiRock, an NHS blood testing centre and new coffee shop Esquires which will be opening soon on the ground floor. Investment has also been made in the glazed roof and other areas that have been under-invested in previously.
