Camera's to help crack down on speeding drivers

With more than five crashes reported in Eastern Avenue, Southend just this year, temporary camera's and video equipment will now be made permanent in a bid too stop anti social drivers.

The accident blackspot, which saw a further seven crashes in the previous two years, saw both councillors and residents campaign for months before temporary camera's were fitted in June as part of a trial.

A complicated yet worth while proceedure will see equipment installed that pick's up number plate recognition and logs drivers who are speeding or are without tax, insurance or MOT.

The police, council and the Road Safety Partnership will work together.
