Coffee shop serves jobs for disabled workers

Southend Mencap have set up Novel Coffee Shop in Southend offering placements to people with disabilities. 

The charity, which support's people with mental health difficulties, opened it's doors last Wednesday with an extremely positive response. 

Dre Bellamy, Retail Manager of Southend Mencap, reported to The Echo that the charity's staff had the idea of wanting to offer work placements for people with learning difficulties because they can often find it difficult to get work. 

She added that the shop offers a variety of freshly ground coffees, served by their own barista trained staff, as well as a range of teas and of course homemade cakes. 

Novel Coffee Shop is open from Monday to Saturdays from 9:30am until 4pm.
