Council launches barbecue consultation

May 27, 2021

The Council has launched a consultation which aims to gather views about the use of barbecues in the Borough’s public areas.

Survey results will ensure the Council considers how best to manage its open spaces and foreshore in the town.

Cllr Carole Mulroney, cabinet member for environment, culture, tourism and planning said: “We want to hear the views of residents, visitors and local businesses about the use of barbecues in our public areas to help us consider how best to manage our beaches and outdoor spaces for the residents and visitors who use them.

“We will continue to allow barbecues on our beaches and in designated barbecue areas during the summer but ask that people use them responsibly and with care for others and remove all the debris carefully and safely – please do not leave it behind where it could cause injury to others.”

The consultation is now open to all residents, visitors and businesses living or trading in the Borough and will close on 18 June 2021.

You will need to register on the Council’s Your Say Southend site to complete the BBQ survey.

The results will be published as soon as possible on the Your Say Southend website.
