Council Seeking Independent Member for Audit Committee

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council is looking for an independent member to join its Audit Committee.

The Audit Committee provides independent assurance on the arrangements the Council has in place to successfully manage it business (which includes risk management, internal control, financial reporting and governance).

In doing this, the Committee plays an important role in supporting the delivery of services to the community.

The successful candidate would need to attend Audit Committee meetings which are normally four times a year, attend training events as required and to contribute to the annual performance assessment of the Audit Committee.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of working with or being a member of an Audit Committee, a financial or audit type background and appropriate experience of financial management, integrity, objectivity, discretion and the ability to make decisions.

This is a voluntary position, with an independent Members Allowance of £1,084 per annum.
