Design a Face Covering Competition

June 15, 2020

Southend YMCA writes on this new opportunity for young people.

We are very excited to announce we are launching our Face It competition this Sunday 14th June, giving young people aged 8-24 the chance to design their own face covering and win £100 of Love2Shop vouchers and see their design become a reality.

With face coverings becoming compulsory on public transport from 15th June, we have launched this competition to spark a conversation about face coverings and how young people feel about the reality of having to wear one. We want to raise awareness of how young people can stay safe as lockdown eases and to inspire them to take a real interest by having the opportunity to design their own.

We want this competition to reach as many young people as possible and we hope that you can help us spread the word.

We have put together a media pack which includes everything you may need to get the message out. We have included a social media graphic (as well as a post for you to copy and paste), web banners, an A4 poster, a printable face covering template as well as a copy of the press release, in case you require more in-depth information:

The judging panel is being led by guest star judge Amber Butchart, Fashion Historian and Broadcaster. The competition closes on 28th June.

Face It is part of a wider initiative by Southend YMCA called FYV 'Find Your Voice' which aims to provide young people with the platform they need to take a hands-on role in community issues affecting them. For further information on FYV visit www.southendymca.org.uk/fyv
