A fire believed to be deliberate has destroyed a seafront shelter.

The shelter, opposite the Castle pub on the Eastern Esplanade, went up in flames in the early hours of Thursday morning (22nd Sep).

A Southend fire crew, who attended the scene, believe that the fire was deliberately started and has been reported to the police.

Ann Holland, culture, tourism and economy councillor, intends to replace the shelter, though no timescale has been revealed at this stage.
