Giving your child the best start

St. Michael's School is a popular and forward thinking Prep School where traditional values and progressive teaching and learning methods go hand in hand to provide all children with an excellent start to their education. The majority of our Year 6 children go on to one of the grammar schools within the Southend area or to leading independent senior schools, but we make it our goal to ensure that all of our children move on fully prepared for the next phase of their learning and development.

From their earliest days in our thriving Foundation Stage we aim for each child to grow in confidence and independence and for them to develop into unique and well-rounded individuals; all children are encouraged to make the most of the rich diversity of opportunities provided through the school’s broad and balanced curriculum and extensive extra-curricular programme.

Over the years the school has enjoyed a rich musical heritage with children frequently involved in a wide variety of musical activities and performances both inside and outside school. Sport and Drama also feature very highly and, together with our innovative outdoor education programme and educational visits, add to the rich diversity of enrichment activities.
