 A Pretty Procession

In 1934 there was a delight in the streets of Leigh at a pretty scene one Sunday evening when the congregation of Our Lady of Lourdes held their customary procession in honour of Our Lady.  Prominent in the congregation were the white veiled Children of Mary, carrying flowers while others, with white veils and blue robes added brightness to the spectacle, as well as gaily decorated banners.

A flower decked statue of Our Lady was carried by white robed girls attended by a strong body of men whilst a long contingent of worshippers joined in the singing of hymns and the recitation of the Rosary.

The procession passed down Highcliff Drive and a tour of the neighbourhood was made  after which they returned to the church
