Lady McAdden Continues to Kick Off Male Breast Cancer Awareness at Parsloes Park

September 26, 2025

Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust (Esther Taylor - CEO, Christine Nichols – Chair, Faith Horsley – Campaign Lead and Natalie Rolinson - Nurse Manager,) took to the pitch at Parsloes Park in Dagenham last week, raising vital awareness of male breast cancer with more than 1,000 visitors at the Leisure United facilities.

From football training and gym sessions to parents watching their children play, everyone passing through the busy reception area was met with an eye-catching information stand and friendly conversations with the Lady McAdden team. Many were surprised to learn that over 400 men in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer every year, a reality that still goes largely unspoken.

Esther Taylor, CEO of Lady McAdden, said:

“This was a fantastic opportunity to spread the word about male breast cancer, thanks to the support of the Essex Football Association and the team at Leisure United. They even donated footballs for our competition, which brought a lot of fun to the evening, especially for the kids!”

The event combined serious awareness with community spirit, engaging families and football fans alike. Alongside sharing life-saving information, Lady McAdden also raised valuable funds to continue their work and built strong new links with local football clubs, where the charity’s nurses will now deliver awareness talks directly to teams.

Danny Adderson, Club & Community Officer at Essex FA, added:

“We are thrilled to support Lady McAdden. They bring incredible energy and expertise, and we’re proud to work alongside them to bring such an important message to our football community.”

Lady McAdden is one of the only charities in the UK offering free one-to-one nurse appointments, without the need for a GP referral, giving people the knowledge and confidence to check themselves and seek medical advice early if something feels wrong. With partnerships like this, the message is clear: breast cancer doesn’t just affect women, men need to be aware too.
