Leigh Striders Halloween Themed 10K

September 30, 2022

Southend park runners were met with a scare in Gunners Park on Saturday morning as some of the Leigh Striders were there in frightening fancy dress to marshal the weekly event and promote their night time Halloween themed 10k, which is taking place on Sunday 30 October at 6pm. They were joined by Radio Essex’s Su Harrison, who was there with her Havens Hospices hat on, as they are one of the causes the race will be raising money for.

After putting on a very successful event earlier this year, the Striders decided they will keep to their quirky after-dark format. The multi-terrain, chip timed event will once again take in three separate loops of the best Leigh-on-Sea has to offer, with runners being rewarded with prosecco at the finish line! Once again being generously sponsored by local business Run Active, the 50 fastest speed-demons will be set off first, but with category winners, optional fancy dress and a pumpkin competition there will be something for all runners.

The Leigh Striders 10k is, and always will be, run to support local charities and they have raised well over £30k over the years. All proceeds from entries this year will go to their new charity partners - Little Havens (hospice for children and young adults) and Trust Links (South East Essex’s local independent charity for mental health and wellbeing).

As an added incentive to sign up to the Leigh 10k they are currently running a competition in conjunction with local online business happystride.co.uk, who make funky and functional (and utterly fabulous) running gear. A like, share, tag and follow of Leigh 10K and Happy Stride on one of their socials, along with entering the 10k by midday Sunday 9 October, will automatically give anyone a chance to win a pair of Happy Stride shorts or leggings.

Terrifyingly, entries are limited to just 650 participants! So sign up now – you’d be horror-fied to miss out! leighonseastriders.co.uk/leigh-on-sea-striders-10k/
