Local Adult Education Courses

Out of the variety of tutoring the Beacon college offers, catching my eye, of course, were the creative writing courses; a course for beginners to discover their writing voice and develop literary techniques. "Next Steps" courses for short stories or autobiographies. Workshops to help you gain confidence in your writing, help to express yourself through fiction and the ability to create individual goals. Nevertheless, for those who arent excited into perhaps becoming the next author extraordinaire, flicking through the offered classes, it appears everyone is catered for. Advanced IT classes for professional technology whizzes, cake decorating for bakery enthusiasts and even the chance to brush up old O-levels or GCSE's by taking AQA English and/or Maths at a Higher or Foundation Level. Languages, fitness, floristy and childcare are all covered at Southend adult community college, creating a wonderfully diverse atmosphere at the college. Many more courses can be found either on the website or in the brochure. The class times certainly account for any of those who are in full-time or part-time employment with evening as well as day classes, and the courses taking place over several weeks depending on the detail of the course.The college does offer benefit rates for any of those wishing to enhance their opportunities but on low incomes, more can be found out at the website listed below. The course venues are Southchurch Centre and Business Enterprise Skills Training (BEST) Centre, Westcliff Centre and Belfairs Centre, specific locations can be found on the southend adult community college website. Enrolment can be via their website, over the phone or by picking up an enrolment form at the Southchurch centre between 9:00-16:30 Mon-Fri or 19:00-20:30 Mon-Wed.
