Local teacher and artist running her 4th London marathon!

January 21, 2015 by Joanna Harrison

Local teacher and artist Charlotte Berry was born in Leigh and returned to live here 11 years ago having lived in other areas of Essex, London and abroad.

She is training for her 4th London marathon and is running in aid of the fantastic mental health charity Young Minds. "They do fantastic work supporting the mental health and emotional wellbeing of young people" she says "and any money raised will help fund their excellent parents' helpline, advice and support for teens and campaigns to raise awareness and remove stigma. Too many young people are suffering from stress, anxiety, depression or from disorders associated with body image or self harm. Many adult mental health problems could be avoided if people got the help needed when young".

Charlotte does much of her training along the seafront; a place she loves and a view she returns to again and again in her paintings. Many paintings depict the familiar view across the estuary while others are of further afield-New York is another favourite subject. She is currently selling her work and undertaking some commissions with all monies going direct to her Justgiving page.

"This is my fourth marathon and I'm always overwhelmed by the support and sponsorship I get. I'm also very grateful to local shop Run Active for all their excellent advice, and to running coach Richard Condon"

Charlotte hopes to get round in under five hours, still smiling and with thousands raised for Young Minds.
