Mick Norcross Insists Plan for the Grand is Back On

July 12, 2017 by Leigh-on-Sea.com

Mick Norcross has revealed a resolution to the problems faced throughout his attempts to renovate the Grand Hotel in Leigh Broadway.

Norcross previously stated that he was going to put the site back on the market, following Southend councillors turning down his original application for 19 flats, a penthouse and a ground floor restaurant with terrace, basement wine bar and health club.

However, with this application refused over concerns that the penthouse was too large, Norcross has since said hat he will submit an appeal to the planning inspectorate, and will resubmit the plans, without the rooftop penthouse.

Brian Ayling, acting as mediator between planning officers and Mr Norcross, has expressed fears that a successful appeal will prove costly to both parties and will take time, though Mr Norcross is determined to restore the classic building.
