New restaurant to open in Old Leigh
Plans to open a 45 seater restaurant on the site of where the scout hut currently resides in Old Leigh have been approved by Southend Council.
The proposal was met with some controversy by some Leigh Councillors as they were keen for it to be marketed for community use, but this was rejected as the scout hut confirmed it was no longer viable and they were running at a loss.
Councillors agreed to back the change of use, on condition that the site could not operate as a takeaway and there would be no tables and chairs at ground level.
