Question: I live above a hairdressers and they play music very loudly – as I work nights, I sleep in the day time and it really disturbs me. Can I do anything about it?

Answer: Oh poor you – noisy neighbours are a nuisance especially after a hard shift at work. If the level of noise is unreasonable then this would be classified as a legal nuisance and you can formally complain. Acceptable noise levels in the day time are different than at night unfortunately though so it will all be a question of what is reasonable.
