September 10, 2026

Old Leigh will be buzzing this weekend as the annual Old Leigh Regatta returns on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September, with a packed programme of traditional competitions and activities both on the beach and out on the water.

Saturday gets underway at 11am with yoga on the beach, followed by the popular Beavers and Cubs Welly Hoying competitions and a Cubs Tug O War.

The action then moves onto the water, with sailing races beginning at 12.45pm, followed by the Scouts rowing race, Topaz paddle relay, swimming relay and canoeing relay. At 2pm, spectators can enjoy the spectacular Bow Sprit Pillow Fight at Victoria Wharf.

Sunday brings another full day of events, beginning at 11am with Adults Football on the Mud, followed by the Adults Tug of War at midday and the Scouts Tug O War at 1pm.

The Scouts will also take part in Yoke Carrying and a Sedan Chair Race, before the second set of Old Leigh sailing races gets underway at 1.30pm.

The regatta, organised by 3rd Chalkwell Bay Sea Scout Group, is a major community fundraising event and promises plenty of entertainment for all ages.

With boats on the water, competitions on the beach and plenty of traditional regatta fun, Old Leigh is the place to be this weekend.

Times are approximate, so organisers advise arriving early if there is a particular event you want to see.
