Revamped local charity shop launch

A local charity is celebrating its new boutique’s ‘Official Launch’ in style thanks to the local fans of sustainable fashion.
On Thursday 10th March following an environmentally focused refurbishment, the boutique in Leigh Road, Leigh on Sea - now called Re:loved by Havens Hospices – welcomed more than 90 local businesses, bloggers, social media influencers, hospice staff and volunteers to an exclusive private viewing.
The VIP’s experienced the charity’s new premium charity shop offering by browsing and purchasing its latest offerings of preloved and vintage fashion, books, vinyl and homeware including brands such as Dr Martens, Fossil, Boden, Superga, Levi’s and Christian Louboutin – with one lucky customer managing to bag a pair of these luxury designer heels for only £40.
During the evening event, attendees also learnt more about the care services Havens Hospices offers to local families like Katy Ruta from Leigh-on-sea. Katy spoke about how Little Havens supports her son and whole family, and how the community’s support has a positive impact on her family. She said, “I know coming to the shop and buying a top seems like a small thing to do, but to a family like ours it’s life-changing. I can’t explain what it means to see the faces of people who are supporting Edward and our family. Thank you.”
Thursday’s launch raised more than £1,600 to help care and support more local people in the community living with complex or incurable conditions.
Open seven days a week, the store is providing an enhanced experience for shoppers with a dedicated womenswear boutique in one room. In the other, there is an expanded menswear selection alongside homeware. Since its initial opening in January, sales have increased over 30% compared to pre-pandemic figures, along with a 100% increase in menswear sales.
Re:loved by Havens Hospices, 174 Leigh Road, SS9 1BT is open 9am-5pm weekdays, 9:30-5:30pm Saturdays and 10-4pm Sundays.
