Southend 2050: Join the conversation
Have your say on Southend's future.
An important conversation is happening right across Southend-on-Sea this summer. ‘Southend 2050’ is about the future of the borough and how it affects the everyday lives of the people that live, work and visit. We want everyone to be part of the conversation.
Southend 2050 is led by Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, on behalf of a range of partner organisations across the borough. The Southend 2050 team has been engaging with the public at events across the borough since May 2018, recording residents’ views on the future they would like to see. There will be a team at the carnival this weekend, speaking to the public and gathering their ideas, and at many other events throughout the summer.
Although Southend 2050 looks ahead to the next 30 years, the public’s feedback will inform immediate plans too with an initial 5 year delivery plan set to be created as a result.

Councillor James Courtenay, deputy leader of Southend-on-Sea Borough Council said: “Southend, as with all boroughs, towns and cities across the UK, is facing new challenges, and we must continue to adapt to meet them with our partners and the local community. We need to ensure we are helping to create a borough that has a clear and simple vision and direction. One that meets the needs of all our residents, no matter where in the borough they live, work or spend their leisure time.

“Southend 2050 is an opportunity for residents to tell us what they want for the future, and the results will help us shape the kind of future we collectively want, and the decisions we will make. We will look in depth at all responses to the survey, and will use your wants, needs and ideas to help us make decisions, both at the highest level of the council, and also in our day-to-day activity.

“This is a genuine listening exercise, and I urge all those with a stake in our borough, to tell us how they would like tomorrow’s Southend to be. Please fill in our survey and help us shape Southend's future: www.bit.ly/southend2050survey. Alternatively, please email Southend2050@southend.gov.uk”
