August 10, 2012

You will find The Crooked Billet in Leigh-on-sea within a short stroll of Leigh on Sea Train Station, Leigh Broadway and Osbourne Brothers - however you won't find another like it.

Step in to discover a traditional pub of unique character, revered for its eclectic range of real ales and its quality pub food, which are served, as they should be, with a generous measure of famous British hospitality.

A fascinating past

The Crooked Billet takes its name from a boomerang-shaped tree branch. We only mention this as you may have noticed that our pub is the only one in Leigh not named after a fishing vessel. But don't worry, our 16th Century tavern still has historic seafaring connections as in the early 1850s, a club was formed here to help sick fishermen. The club became known as the Billet Club.

One of a kind

The Crooked Billet is one of many rare gems in the Nicholson's collection of great British pubs, reputed for their distinctive buildings, intriguing history and vibrant atmosphere.
