The Sandbank is a 'Top Place to Eat'

With so many great restaurants to choose from in Leigh, it might seem hard to pick a favourite. Not so for The Sunday Times, however, who have named Leigh's "Sandbank" restaurant among their top 130 places to eat in Britain in part 2 of their annual round-up of eateries (The Sunday Times, 10th November). A quick look at Sandbank's Tripadvisor comments bears testament to their inclusion as the only restaurant in Essex entered in the feature, with many diners complimenting the quality of the fare on offer, along with reasonable pricing and a stylishly understated atmosphere. 

As well as modestly priced fine dining at lunchtimes, in the evenings and on Sundays, you can also sample lighter lunchtime bites at Sandbank such as wraps, salads, soup and pasta dishes. 

Sandbank aim not only to be a great local restaurant, but have diversified and enhanced their name by offering cookery classes, private dining and external catering. 

That's not all, though. Sandbank can also host and cater weddings for up to fifty guests, and as someone who searched high and low for the perfect small wedding venue in Leigh for my own nuptials last year, I wish I'd known about this particular string to the Sandbank bow earlier. All too often, venues wildly overblow their wedding set-up, and lose the intimacy of the day. Sandbank seem to offer the perfect alternative to the hugely expensive stately home, or the identikit hotel wedding. And, in these austere times, 'keeping it local' can also add a warm sense of hearth and home to the day. 

Sandbank also offers gift vouchers for dining, cookery classes and demonstrations and a very tempting six-course taster menu which, at £34.95, would make a great early Christmas present to kick the festive season off in style!
