The Snow Queen At The Palace Theatre Launch This Week
On Tuesday 21st October, the cast of The Palace Theatre’s new Christmas show The Snow Queen gathered at the theatre to launch the show and for a first glimpse at their costumes.
The cast: Loren O’Dair (The Snow Queen), Lily Streames playing the heroine Gerda and Gerda’s friend Kai played by Harry Chamberlain plus the bandits Benjamin Victor and Roseanna Connolly took over the Palace auditorium to begin the creative process of bringing the show to the stage.
All the cast were excited to be at the Palace with Roseanna saying she had always wanted to perform there. For Lily, it was a full circle moment as she began her stage career in the Southend Theatres Summer Youth Project. It is very much a home-grown production with costumes for the show created by Murray Lane, a Southend -based Costume Designer who is also currently working on The Devil Wears Prada. Baldwin Creative are the Production Designers, Lily Bowman, the Deputy Stage Manager, is Essex based as is Ashton Moore who has written the beautiful and uplifting original score for the show.
The Snow Queen opens on Saturday 13 December and runs until Sunday 28 December. Wind Song have re-imagined the classic story, bringing it magically to life as the adventure leads Gerda on an exciting journey through a land full of mystery, winter magic and snow.
The show is being directed by Rebecca Ward, co-founder of Wind Song Theatre. She said: “We have re-imagined the classic story, bringing it magically to life as the adventure leads Gerda on an exciting journey through a land full of mystery, winter magic and snow. From the moment the audience steps into the auditorium, this production promises to create a sense of wonder and delight, making The Snow Queen the perfect treat for Christmas.”
Featuring a beautiful and uplifting original score and songs, the show is a lovely family show suitable for children aged from 6 to 106. Wind Song Theatre brings stories to life for children and families. The company is recognised for creating fun and engaging performances using original music and innovative design.
