Two Arrested After Teenager Seriously Injured in Chalkwell Park

Two people have been arrested after a teenage girl was seriously injured in an incident involving a vehicle in Southend.

Police were called to Chalkwell Park at around 12.30am on Saturday, 13 June, following reports that a group had taken control of a small loading vehicle without permission.

During the incident, the teenage girl was struck by the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. She was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital, where she remains in a critical condition. Specialist officers are supporting her family.

An 18-year-old man from Westcliff and a 17-year-old boy from Leigh-on-Sea have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Both remain in police custody while enquiries continue.
